They are rage, brutal, without mercy. Arise o' horde! Arise o' possessed! Arise o' corrupted! ARISE, and claim your place! As you walk among the living, as you march against the enemy, unleash the power that's been granted to you. Make them feel your agony, let their screams be your, SERENITY. Their kind ends here, help them stare into the darkness for one, last, TIME.
- The Wretched as he brings his forces to wage war against the GDA in the Event's trailer.

Description[]

The 2024 Halloween Event was an event that was released on 25 October 2024 and ended on 18 December 2024. The event had four chapters, which periodically released throughout the last week of October and the start of November. The first chapter released at the start of the event with Chapter I on Calamity, Chapter II released with the map Factorium on 26 October 2024 with Chapter III and Hellspire on 2 November 2024 (which was delayed 2 times due to the developers overestimated themselves to fit the gameplay they vision players to have), and Chapter IV and Ragnarok on 9 November 2024. Each chapter has a Normal and a Nightmare difficulty. Each mode rewarded a certain amount of tokens, with the Nightmare mode rewarding more Token Currency Tokens than the Normal mode and is generally the recommended mode to grind in order to finish the Battlepass as soon as possible.

The event introduces a Battle Pass with 18 skins, 1 emote, and 3 event-exclusive towers, with other tiers giving Gold Currency Gold, XP, and Power-ups such as the A-10 Strike and the Nuclear Missile. To progress through the 27 Tiers, players need a certain amount of Token Currency Tokens per tier which can be obtained from beating any game mode during the event. However, like the Tower Battles Event, the event exclusive gamemodes provide more tokens than the normal gamemodes, so players are generally encouraged to beat those. Players can also purchase tiers with Robux Robux or buy 2x tokens for an hour.

Chapter I[]

Halloween I, Halloween I Nightmare

Chapter I introduced the Awakened faction, starting with the Heretic and his forces on Calamity. Its modes are based off of light resistances, with most enemies having some form of resistance, as well as introducing Melee Resistance with the Executioner. It, along with the Psycho, are normal enemies that do damage. The gamemode itself also features ambient music, something not seen in earlier chapters.

Chapter II[]

Halloween II, Halloween II Nightmare

Chapter II elaborated a bit more on the more warlike side of the Awakened, featuring monsters such as the Twitching Viles and Corrupted Predators. The Engineer, owner of the Factorium the chapter takes place on, is also introduced, being an important figure of the Awakened that has stolen Dr. Xenon's creations and reworked them. Though Chapter II's modes are a bit more traditional, it also introduces a dual-path system with enemies spawning on alternating paths. Also, on the final wave, the Nail Golems that have been hanging on the hooks above for the entire game finally drop down, skipping a good portion of the path.

Chapter III[]

Halloween III, Halloween III Nightmare

Chapter III entirely overhauls the traditional path system, replacing it with a defend-the-objective layout where players defend the GDA Artillery on Hellspire. Said artillery is there to shoot down the Citadel, keeping much of the region under invasion. Instead of simply walking into a "base", enemies will now attack towers in their way, and then the GDA Artillery once it gets in range, which can be healed by players. The GDA Artillery is under fire by many threats such as tanks, Dreadnoughts (the Ravager, Striker, and Contemptor), and new flying enemies. The final boss, the Corrupted Eradicator MK II, makes a return from Expert Mode, now corrupted and fitted with new weaponry.

Chapter IV[]

Halloween IV, Halloween IV Nightmare

Chapter IV features the same defend-the-objective layout on Ragnarok, where players must defend the GDA Base from all sides. The chapter features not only new enemies, but also new sprites for the Advisor. After the events of Chapter II, the Awakened forces overran the base. Unlike before, the GDA Base helps out towers more directly, handing out a range buff as well as railguns that activate later. First, the Ravager and Striker come in, then the Corrupted Apex Predator with entirely new weaponry (but a lack of a core to explode), and finally, The Wretched.

Trivia[]

  • This was the second event to use a battle pass system.
  • This was the first event to use a chapter system where content was periodically added over the course of the event.
  • Originally this was meant to be the first event to feature voice acting and a cutscene, with John confirming this will be featured in chapter III from the TDX discord server, however due to problems with the unique gameplay in chapter III it was cancelled.
  • Originally, Chapters III and IV were meant to release on October 29 and 31 respectively, but the developers heavily overestimated their capabilities and couldn't make a fully-fledged game mode in that span of time since they only had a team consisting of only 1 programmer, so they pushed those dates back, which is in November 2nd and November 9th.
  • Purchasing every tier of the events battle pass except three last tiers would've required 10,675 robux.
  • To complete the battle pass, you will need 1,144 Chapter I, 590 Chapter I Nightmare, 398 Chapter II, 253 Chapter II Nightmare, 112 Chapter III, 55 Chapter III Nightmare, 55 Chapter IV, or 33 Chapter IV Nightmare matches to complete the whole entirety of the battlepass (assuming there is no 2x points activated).
  • Factorium and Hellspire are the only maps in the event and in-game to have Enemies and Towers being shown on the map thumbnail, while other Maps seem to not have any being shown.
  • This is the first event for Nightmare bosses like Nightmare Heretic and Vile Engineer to have render icons during their narrative dialogue, as the other Narrators are purely drawn artworks.
  • Hellspire is the first map that towers can be placed on the paths and has many paths.
  • The opening line said by The Wretched for the trailer of the 2024 Halloween Event, "They are rage, brutal, without mercy," is a direct referance to the opening lines of the first cutscene in DOOM (2016).
