Description[]

The 2024 Christmas Event is an event that was first released on 19 December 2024. The event has two parts, with Part 2 being released on December 28 2024.(which was delayed to release on 7 January 2025 due to John not wanting another continuation of The Wretched boss fight.) Each chapter has a Normal and a Nightmare mode, with the latter rewarding more Token Currency Tokens than the former with the drawback of being much harder. This event primarily introduces the return of Dr. Xenon after being briefly mentioned in previous event modes and a boss originating from Tower Battles; General Celgar, leading Frosty's army in Part 2.

The event introduces a Battlepass with 7 skins, 2 emotes, and 2 event-exclusive towers, with one being in the Battlepass and one being rewarded for completing Nightmare Part II, while the other tiers giving Gold Currency Gold, XP, and Power-ups such as the Cryo Blast and Nuclear Missile. To progress through the 20 Tiers, players need a certain amount of Token Currency Tokens per tier which can be obtained from beating any game mode during the event like the previous events. However, unlike the Tower Battles event or 2024 Halloween Event, all modes including event-exclusive gamemodes and core gamemodes including Endless Mode got buffed to give an specific amount of Token Currency Tokens. Players can skip through tiers and have a x2 Token Boost using Robux Robux to buy it like in the Tower Battles and 2024 Halloween Event.

The Christmas Event also introduces a lot of new mechanics, such as "Quick Play" where players can matchmake with other random players or invite people or friends to private parties and join without using in-game teleporters or asking in the lobby for teammates. The event also introduces cutscenes, which was introduced in the Christmas I and Christmas I Nightmare revealing Dr. Xenon's return. Arctic Research Base introduces a 2-lane map similar to Factorium and brings back 2023 XMAS Event enemies such as Snow Predator or Nightmare Exo Santa and VFX sounds for Ginger D.R.E.A.D. and Christmas background music, while also reusing back some background music from the 2024 Halloween Event, while Christmas Chapter 2 has yet again another objective map with much harder difficulty from the ones in the 2024 Halloween Event and some Enemies from Part 1 now being able to attack Towers non-stop, making this the most difficult event in-game in terms of difficulty.

Part 1[]

Christmas I, Christmas I Nightmare

Part 1 features one of Dr. Xenon's scout forces, now invading the Arctic Research Base after the GDA was weakened by the Awakened, with the gamemodes featuring returning enemies like the Snow Runner as well as new ones like the Resurrected Cryo Blaster. The part also introduces both cutscenes and loadouts (which are unusable in nightmare modes), starting out with a choice of four loadouts before transitioning to Dr. Xenon talking directly to the player. Enemies like the Resurrected Cryo Ranger reintroduce freezing, while the Ice Capwn and Snow Gangsta again assert that enemies can fight back against towers. The Ginger D.R.E.A.D. is the final boss, having a deadly laser cannon as well as summoning the previous two enemies.

Part 2[]

Christmas II, Christmas II Nightmare

Part 2 features Frosty's remaining forces invading Fortress Snowlyn, backed by the revived General Celgar. The map is in a defend-the-objective layout instead of a standard one, and two Sentries are stationed near the back to catch leaks early on. The Ice Capwn, Snow Gangsta, and Ginger D.R.E.A.D. return from Dr. Xenon, much deadlier than before and in greater numbers, and enemies like the Frozen Gladiator also appear. The gamemodes also start out with cutscenes (and for the normal variant, preset loadouts as well), with the beginning one being Dr. Xenon talking about her next invasion and the ending scene after the final wave ends featuring Dr. Xenon crashing out.

Trivia[]

  • This is the third event to introduce a battlepass system.
  • This is also the first event to introduce cutscenes to the game and quests to help complete the battlepass.
  • Purchasing every tier of the battlepass would require Robux 10275
  • According to John, Christmas II Nightmare is supposed to be extremely difficult so that players cannot win solo and must unite to win, unlike previous events.
  • In order to complete the battlepass, you need to complete about 295 Christmas I wins or about 113 Christmas I Nightmare wins.
  • This is the second event to have Dr. Xenon narrating in the dialogue, with the first event being the 2023 XMAS Event
  • Prior to the release of Part 2, Ice Breaker was only granted to players by beating Part 1 & Part 2 solo on Nightmare mode within a 24-hour timeframe of each other. If the player did not win both modes in that time frame, they would have to restart all over again.
    • This was changed after hours of release due to negative feedback, where you can now obtain the tower by just simply beating Part 2 on Nightmare mode, regardless of the number of players.
  • Players had speculated for Frosty to appear in Christmas II as a boss due it being called "Frosty's Invasion".
    • Despite this, he never once makes an appearance. It is only mentioned by Dr. Xenon in dialogue.
  • According to a dialogue by Dr. Xenon in Christmas II Nightmare, Frosty was confirmed to be killed by the GDA during the Tower Battles era.
  • You were still able to play Part 1 and 2 of the event for a few days after the event ended, and it was possible to obtain the badges for winning Part 1 and 2 on both modes. However, the battlepass was already removed, making the tokens useless.
