The Artillery is a high damage-dealing Explosive tower that requires its user to manually aim it at its targets. It reloads automatically after its bombardment. This requires a fair bit of skill to use correctly due to players having to predict where an enemy is going to be and how long it will take for the artillery shell to hit the selected area. It has amazing Range and a large Splash Radius for its cost. Due to this, Artillery is most useful early to mid-game in gamemodes like Endless and Expert. Players should note that the jamming of Jammers and freezing shots from Snow Predator can prevent them from aiming this tower though.
Upgrades[]
The Top Path for the Artillery allows it to fire faster, and its max upgrade automatically aims for the player, however it will not have Stealth Detection. It will also not fire until an enemy is within its range. When multiple are paired, these can easily take care of crowds in every almost every gamemode. This path is best paired with EDJ and should have its targeting set to "Random" in order to deal the most damage possible.
The Bottom Path of the Artillery increases its Splash Radius, Damage, and Health greatly. When paired with a John, it can deal nearly 2,500 damage to enemies within its large radius. Its radius makes it easier for players aiming with the Artillery due to is covering such a large area. This is great for damaging hordes of enemies with high health pools like the crowds in the later waves of Elite Mode, and is a great pair with 5-X Farm. Keep in mind that stealth high health, speedy enemies like Revived Abomination, especially in Elite where there are also Multiplier (Disambiguation) deployed alongside them.
A 5-2 Artillery is useful for making tons of money quickly, and makes even more so if targeting is set to "Random" (5-0).
Players can target bottom path Artilleries to take down backliners protected by tanks, and especially enemies that can spawn more enemies like Elite Grenadier.
Jammer can significantly obstruct this tower as it can disable the Artillery's ability to aim at targets. Therefore, it is best to not put it in major DPS areas to prevent this.
A 5-X Artillery can circumvent this due to its ability to automatically target enemies.
An X-5 Artillery can be very useful for damage and utility in Expert Mode as it can deal heavy damage to Monsters and Titans, ignore the explosive resistance of crowds of ResurrectedJuggernauts, and provide extra income for players using 5-X Farms.
A top path EDJ greatly helps Artillery as it is the second slowest tower in the game in terms of reload time.
A bottom path EDJ is also useful, as its upgrades are expensive.
Due to the nature of the Artillery's targeting system, you can make it target stealth enemies to damage them even from Level 0-0. Use this to your advantage as many stealth enemies can be tanky and be grouped up, not to mention many towers cannot directly damage stealth enemies from level 0-0.
This is especially important in Expert Mode, as there are many hordes of stealth enemies with high health, including armored enemies.
Do note that since the 5-X Artillery has automatic aiming, it will no longer attack stealth enemies as it doesn't gain stealth detection and you cannot manually target it.
Artillery is not recommended to be used against Eradicator, due to its jamming effect causing artilleries to fire much slower.
The player controlling the Artillery should not go AFK (Away From Keyboard) as the player has to manually lock on a target.
If the player has to go AFK, it is recommended to max out every Artillery to top path as they lock on target without player control.
The Artillery is a great counter against the wave 19 Elite Grenadier in Expert mode.
Trivia[]
The victory animation of the top path of the Artillery is from the popular Manga/Anime series, Chainsaw Man.
This tower is based off of the Mortar Monkey from Bloons TD 6, more specifically the Pop and Awe upgrade for the Top Path.
As John Roblox stated in his Discord Server, he presumably loves Artillery.
Upon triumph, the X-5 Artillery spins.
Artillery is one of the four towers in the game that have voicelines. The others being Operator, John, and Cryo Ranger.
Artillery has the most voicelines between the four, with it having 13 unique voicelines.
Unlike most other towers, the Artillery is able to see and attack over certain obstacles (ie. fences) because it fires in an arc. This trait is shared by the Warship and bottom path XWM Turret.
Artillery is the currently only tower to be confirmed that has more than one person operating it, as there is the Spotter and the one loading and firing the Artillery.
With fire rate debuff from enemies or bosses (Revive Plague Doctor/Plague Doctor). Its possible to get the bottom path reload time from 10 (or) 13 seconds. To 33+ seconds.
