Description[]

Calamity is the fourth exclusive and eighth boss total to appear in Endless Mode. Its arrival is foreboded on Wave 71 by a red tint in the environment that intensifies with each passing wave, before reaching its peak as it debuts on Wave 80 and Advisor's communications systems to the player(s) is cut off due to its mere presence, up until Wave 121.[1]

It has an extremely slow walkspeed but far more health in comparison to the bosses that appeared prior, and it has the capability to kill large groups of towers and summon massive hordes of enemies. Additionally, upon being sufficiently damaged, it will activate Calamitous Wrath, instantly stunning all towers on the map and killing a quarter of them. It will then resume its march, now at an increased speed.

Upon being defeated, it will sink into the ground through a flaming red portal.

Appearance[]

Calamity has black skin marbled with thin red streaks and has numerous neon red cracks on its arm and torso. Its head has a pair of tall upright horns on its sides and a neon red right eye weeping tears of blood, as well as a large neon red crack running down the left side of its face. Additionally, it has numerous black rocky spikes on its shoulder and back, rubble coating its lower arms, and small chunks of debris embedded in its torso and legs. Lastly, inscribed on its forehead and in a cavity in its chest is a rune-like red sigil that seems to be its own symbol.

Strategies[]

  • Numerous 2-5 Railgunners should be adequate in taking it out for its debut. However, higher end towers such as XWM Turret, Warship, and Golden Juggernaut are necessary to deal with it for its later appearances.
  • Heavy splash damage towers such as 2-5 XWM Turret and/or Warship are necessary to deal with its spawns.
    • 2-5 XWM Turrets and 5-2 Warships should be set to Random to maximize the amount of enemies hit in their splash radius, while 2-5 Warships can be set to either First or Strongest.
  • Stunning towers like 2-5 Grenadier or Golden Ranger can be used to stun its spawns to buy more time for your towers to kill them.
  • Just as Calamity is about to reach Health1,000,000, sell as many towers as possible to minimize the amount of towers destroyed by Calamitous Wrath. Afterwards, they should be immediately replaced.
    • Towers not crucial for defense such as Farms should be sold for the same reason.

Trivia[]

  • Calamity was originally named "Calamity Void" and bore a significant resemblance to the Void from Tower Battles in early concept art.
  • Calamity was originally supposed to kill 50% of all towers with its Calamitous Wrath, but it was changed to its current 25% due to John Roblox thinking it was too overpowered.
    • After Endless Mode’s release, John Roblox posted a poll on the Tower Defense X Discord server asking if it should be buffed back to 50% anyway, to which the majority declined.
  • Calamity was the only Endless Mode boss to not have its health or abilities be shown before release.
  • Calamity and its summons all have health numbers composed entirely of sixes.
  • Past its debut, the 10 waves before Calamity’s appearance will not add a red tint to the environment. However, the red tint will quickly reappear in its most intense state once it spawns.
  • In a video where SocksFor3 played Endless Mode with John Roblox, John described the Calamity as the "Leader of Hell".
  • Calamity is the only enemy that can bypass Medic's Uber ability.
  • On some maps, Calamity can be seen under the ground as it "sinks" into the portal if there is little ground under the floor.
  • It takes about 106 maxed out Cryo Helicopters to completely freeze it.[2][1]

  1. Said dialogue on this wave was meant to initially be part of the natural "end" to Endless Mode until more waves came, yet was left in anyways when it happened. This is also non-canon, as is everything past wave 80 for the mode.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXZoE5lkcEQ, do note that this is only possible through abusing a Roblox glitch
