The Golden Juggernaut is an upgraded version of the regular Juggernaut, boasting much higher damage, range, the ability to damage bullet resistance enemies upon being placed, and early stun resistance, albeit with a slightly higher placement cost and exorbitantly high upgrade costs. It is an excellent mid-to-late game tower as its maximum DPS is almost unmatched by other towers and its ability to essentially un-stun and grant itself a slight damage buff is very much beneficial. However, its damage buff does not stack with John's damage buff. It is currently the most expensive tower in the game.
Upgrades[]
The Top Path for the Golden Juggernaut grants immense range and the ability to ignore laser resistance once purchasing its final upgrade. This is needed in the later waves of Endless Mode due to the sheer amount of enemies with laser resistances and when fighting Apex Predator, as he has heavy resistances for every type of damage. It can also pierce through 1 enemy and has an ability that grants it 25% more damage, heals 1,000, and removes any stun debuffs applied onto it, allowing it to deal damage to bosses during their rage state. This path is the more cost-effective route, as it still deals a great amount of DPS while being cheaper, having more range and one pierce.
The Bottom Path is designed for high DPS output, with much higher damage than the Top Path. Its final upgrade grants it the same ability as Top Path. When paired with a max Top Path EDJ and a max Top Path John, it can deal up to 3,600 DPS. This comes at a cost of lower range and extremely high upgrade costs; the final upgrade for the Bottom Path costs a whopping $182,000, so Farms are highly recommended if players want to purchase this upgrade
The Golden Juggernaut possesses an ability that not only unstuns the tower and heals 1,000, but also gives itself a 25% damage buff, totaling it's DPS up to 624 on maxed out Top Path, and 1,875 on maxed out Bottom Path. However, this cannot be stacked with John's rage ability that gives a 50% damage buff, nor Medic's Damage buffs. Both of these buffs will override Golden Juggernaut's reboot ability, and Medic will override all damage buff abilities. You can, however, stack this with EDJ's ability as it affects Reload Time.
Be aware that this ability does not unstun the tower if they are frozen by the Snow Predator.
The Golden Juggernaut is extremely expensive, even more so than the regular Juggernaut, with the Bottom Path costing close to $250,000 to max out and its Top Path costing more than $120,000 to max out. This tower is meant for mid-late game.
Farms will help out immensely in gaining the cash needed to afford its costly upgrades.
Place 5-2 Farms near the Golden Juggernaut, as it will contribute heavily to the Tower Economics upgrade.
The Bottom PathEDJ is very useful in reducing upgrade costs and to increase the Golden Juggernauts already large range in both paths.
Due to its high price, especially for the bottom path, it may be better to spam 2-4 Golden Juggernauts until you can buy the 2-5 upgrade for each one, as this is more cost-efficient.
Using the bottom path Mobster near a group of Golden Juggernaut is a great idea, as the Mobster will give back 35% of a Golden Juggernaut's total cost, with the tower having very high total cost. Since they will die often especially in Endless Mode, saving money is easier with the Mobster.
The Golden Juggernaut's base damage type is "Laser", meaning it can bypass bullet resistant enemies. This makes it effective against enemies like the Revived Titan.
Conversely, it is weaker against enemies with laser resistance, a particular example being the Resurrected Laser Gunner. However, it can be ignored with the Top Path.
If bringing the tower along, the Golden Juggernaut should be your main DPS tower.
For modes other than Endless Mode and Expert Mode, using the Top Path is more cost-effective because of its cheaper price and longer range. The lower DPS compared to the Bottom Path is a moot point given that the enemies in these modes are comparatively weaker.
Do note that even though the Golden Juggernaut is a very strong tower and its DPS is almost unmatched, it suffers from a few key weaknesses.
It is horrendous against hordes, even with the maxed top path, as it doesn't deal enough DPS to clear out hordes of enemies. Towers like the Warship are superior in this regard.
Its high base and upgrade costs makes it unsuited for the early and even mid game to some degree, with Farms and EDJs almost being required to use this properly. This also means its hard to use effectively in modes that don't give a lot of cash.
Despite having robust health, it still goes down fairly easily against stronger bosses like the Eradicator MK IV and Eradicator MK I Combat, resulting in a lot of money being lost.
Trivia[]
The Golden Juggernaut shares the same upgrade names and icons as Juggernaut.
