Description[]

The M202 Trooper is a unit spawned by the Barracks tower and is purchasable at X-3, while still available at X-4 and X-5. Armed with an M202 FLASH, it is capable of clearing hordes or weakening tanky enemies by firing four explosive rockets in quick succession at a distance. Like other towers that deal explosive type damage, the M202 Trooper can ignore bullet-resistance making it extremely useful on gamemodes such as Intermediate Mode and Expert Mode. On the downside, the M202 Trooper has a reload time of 7.5 seconds, slow walk speed, and weak defense making it reliant on other units, notably the Rioter and Scout, for protection. Its rocket launcher is also it's only attack, meaning it is weak against explosive resistant enemies.

Unfortunately, like every other unit in the Barrack's bottom path, the M202 Trooper does not have stealth detection, although it can kill or damage stealthed enemies around the unstealthed zombie it targets. Due to this, it is advised that players accommodate for the lack of stealth detection by placing towers with stealth detection or a 4-X/5-X Barracks.

Appearance[]

M202 Trooper wears a green open vest and pants with a white undershirt, and black shoes. Brown hair is combed over to the side and has stripes on his arms. Wields a M202A1 rocket launcher.

Strategies[]

  • The M202 Trooper's primary strength is against crowds, owing to its multiple rocket launcher that deals great splash damage, as well as it's having a magazine size of 4 rockets.
    • It is also good against high health enemies, particularly when there are multiple M202 Troopers, as they can deal at least 200 damage per burst.
  • Due to its relatively high health of 100, it can tank plenty of weak enemies and chip down the health of stronger ones, especially if there are more M202 Troopers.
  • Because the M202 Trooper ignores bullet resistance (as it fires rockets), it can be extremely useful in Intermediate+ modes as it can do lots of damage towards armored enemies.
    • Conversely, it is weak and almost ineffective against explosive resistance enemies as rockets are its only form of attack.
      • It can just, however, collide with them to deal damage. This is not always viable as most explosive resistant enemies are likely to have more than enough health to tank multiple M202 Troopers and you can alternatively use other towers/units.

Trivia[]

  • In the Barracks units concept art, the M202 Trooper is featured with a Man Face on him instead of his current, angry expression.
  • M202 Trooper’s appearance seems to be a reference to John Matrix from Commando (1985).
  • The M202 Trooper has a spawning limit, where there can only be a total of 3 M202 Trooper per Barrack.
  • When using the Tower Battles skin for Barracks, the M202 Trooper will resemble the Tuber from Tower Battles.

Update History[]

  • 1 December 2023
    • The M202 Trooper is released along with the Barracks.
