The Medic is a support tower that can heal towers that get damaged by enemies, but it is unable to heal himself, requiring players to place another Medic to heal him. Depending on the path, it can get the ability to boost the damage of a tower up to 200% or make both him and the tower completely invulnerable. Like the EDJ, he is solely a support tower, meaning he will do no damage to enemies whatsoever. The Medic will prioritize healing the closest tower to it that is not at full health. He is also unable to buff Warship, XWM Turret, or Sentry.
Upgrades[]
The Top Path is meant for healing towers, with it having a much larger Heal Per Second on this path when compared to its Bottom Path. It gains the ability to make a tower completely invulnerable to attacks and stuns from enemies temporarily. This path is great for preventing towers like the Golden Juggernaut from being killed or stunned by Apex Predator and Eradicator MK I C. The only counter to this is Calamity's Calamitous Wrath, but it's negligible.
Medic's Bottom Path has a much larger range when compared to its Top Path but is more expensive and has less healing capabilities. It gains an ability to buff the damage of a selected tower by 200% on its max level, but this does not stack with John's 50% damage buff or Golden Juggernaut's Reboot Systems buff.
Grants it and the selected tower invulnerability to damage and debuffs as well as removing applied debuffs for 12s. Additionally prevents the Medic from being upgraded during its duration.
Grants it and the selected tower invulnerability to damage and debuffs as well as removing applied debuffs for 25s. Additionally prevents the Medic from being upgraded during its duration.
Grants the selected tower a 100% damage buff for 5s. Additionally stacks with Commander'sCall To Arms and prevents the Medic from being upgraded during its duration.
Grants the selected tower a 200% damage buff for 12s. Additionally stacks with Commander'sCall To Arms and prevents the Medic from being upgraded during its duration.
Damage Buff: 200% for 12s
Skins[]
To see all the upgrades of a skin, see the gallery page.
Get at least 2 Top Paths and 2 Bottom Paths to heal and buff multiple towers.
Bottom Path Medic's ability is best used on towers with high damage or high DPS like the Railgunner, and Golden Juggernaut, as he will increase their damage substantially.
Towers that have No Friendly Buffs like Warship and XWM Turret cannot be boosted by Medic.
However, despite Patrol Boat being capable of buffed, it cannot be healed by Medic.
The Uber ability can be used to grant invincibility to a selected tower, making it completely Stun Immune from attacks that can ignore it.
Placing 2 Top PathMedics next to each other and using their Uber abilities on each other allows for one Medic to heal many towers while invincible consistently.
EDJ is only capable of buffing the range of Medic, so if a player is using Medic for healing and needs to give it range, get a 5-X EDJ rather than X-5.
Medics will need to be replaced often, due to his low health, so make sure to have a decent amount of Income, Farm can help remedy this.
Medic isn't able to heal buildings like Armored Factory, or mechanical towers such as the XWM Turret, so be aware of this.
Uber can also cancel any stun affected to a tower before or after the invincibility, this can be used to cancel Snow Predator's freeze as well for other purposes.
Note that Medic will struggle against damage dealt overtime, such as burn damage, as he will constantly heal a single tower being hurt due to his targeting, leaving the others vulnerable.
Players are unable to upgrade the Medic or the tower he's targeting when he's using an ability.
As such, players should either use their Uber/Kritz ability either before they upgrade, or after they upgrade.
Trivia[]
The Medic is based off of the Team Fortress 2 Medic.
It's two abilities are called Uber and Kritz, which are references to an ability and weapon respectively that the TF2 Medic possesses.
The ability's name Uber comes from the ÜberCharge, which is an ability that the TF2 Medic can activate with various weapons, in this case specifically the default Medi Gun. The default Medi Gun's ÜberCharge and TDX's Uber ability function the same, granting the target invulnerability to all attacks for a short amount of time. The methods of getting the ÜberCharge are different, however, with TDX's Uber ability building up overtime while the TF2 ÜberCharge builds up by healing allies.
The Kritz ability comes from the "Kritzkrieg", one of the Mediguns the TF2 Medic can use. The Kritzkrieg can also heal but upon ÜberCharged, it gives the healing player a 100% critical hit chance for 8 seconds instead of granting invincibility, effectively giving the player extra damage for that amount of time. The concept is similar with the TDX Kritz ability.
One of the Medic's victory animations is the TF2 Medic's Kazotsky Kick, while another is the "Oktober Aid" from the Engineer Gets Aid SFM animation.
The way the Medic heals towers (via a laser beam) is similar to the beams of the TF2 Medi Guns.
The Medic's finished models was first teased in John’s video of him showcasing the complete Intermediate Mode during TDX's development.[1]
In the same video, Medic is seen to have Missile Trooper's face, but this was changed upon the towers release.
The teaser image for Medic and Slammer's release date to TDX has a minor mistake, as instead of saying "5.31.24", it states the wrong year ("5.31.25").
Despite Medic's old description saying that he is able to boost a tower's Damage by up to 300%, an X-5 Medic's Kritz ability can only buff a tower's DPS by 200%.
This may be because the description also accounted for the tower's DPS without any de-buffs, in other words, 100% of it.
Medic is the second healing unit in the game after the reworked Shotgunner'sTop Path, although Healing Field was the first healing utility.
Medic is the first tower to have an in-game screenshot for its upgrade icon, as his second Top Path Bigger Beam upgrade icon is a screenshot of a maxed Top PathSlammer being healed by its beam in Secret Forest.
The Medic has the same haircut as the Mine Layer and his golden version, they're also the only towers that have unique targeting.
Due to the usage of the Red Cross on Medic's uniform on the Top Path, Tower Defense X technically violates the Geneva Convention due to the usage of the Red Cross being forbidden for use in video games.
The Medic is the second tower to buff other towers damage, via its Kritz ability, with the first being John and the third being Commander.
During the 2024 Halloween Event, it was possible to use an unintended technique with the Medic against the Corrupted Apex Predator; if you placed a tower in the direction its going and use the Uber ability on it, there was a chance the boss would get stuck, allowing you to permanently stall him and nearby enemies, so long as you had multiple Medics to keep it alive. This was fixed before the event ended.
