The Mine Layer is a support tower that throws mines onto the path and is meant for taking care of any enemies that dash past your main source of defense. It is great at dealing with bosses and high-health enemies when enough mines are placed down. This tends to be a great tower in Endless Mode as players are expected to leak on that gamemode. Its mines do not despawn when the tower dies, but once they've reached the duration of their lifespan.
Upgrades[]
Its Top Path grants it Stealth Detection and opts for a large Splash Radius and faster Reload Time, allowing mines to be placed more frequently.
The Bottom Path for the Mine Layer focuses on damage and long lifetime, with the downsides being that it does not have Stealth Detection, a very longReload Time, and a small Splash Radius. In return, its mines have long lifetime and has thermite that deals extra fire damage for any enemies that were not killed by the initial minestack. This path is meant to target high-health enemies. Additionally, Level X-5 has Ignore Explosive Resistance, allowing it to counter high-resistance enemies that other towers can't deal with normally, such as Assailants.
The Mine Layer is best placed in the midgame, as it gives it a lot of time for its mines to pile up.
In Gamemodes like Easy and Elite, Mine Layer will not be as effective due to the lack of waves.
This tower can ignore short obstacles and is equally effective no matter the amount of path it covers, so you can utilize this tower on the outside of turns and straight paths without worrying.
Furthermore, it makes mine placement more precise, making the tower more predictable.
The base Tower is extremely cost effective in large number; however, it shouldn't be used as a main DPS due to it's nature.
Despite stacking mines being an important Mine Layer mechanic, it can be placed closer to the rest of the defenses as it does a great job both against the crowds and high HP enemies. This works best with its top path.
This is especially the case with X-5 Mine Layer, as Thermite Burn lasts for 15 seconds and can deal loads of extra damage.
This tower is better used against bosses if placed at the end of long maps, this will allow for it to stack up mines throughout the waves which deals absurd damage to bosses, and, when used correctly, is just enough to take out Eradicator MK II on Expert mode.
Mine Layer makes a good combination with EDJ, as it's Rate of Fire boost can increase the total amount of mines it can place.
For example, Mine Layer has a average of 32 mines in total , but with a top path EDJ nearby mine layer can place now an average of 46 mines, increasing the total damage from 14,720 to 21,260 damage in total per Mine Layer (without the thermite effect).
Considering that Mine Layer tend to large groups, the large amount of damage each Mine Layer accumulates can stack up fast.
This makes Mine Layer especially useful in Endless and Expert mode due to their round duration.
Trivia[]
When shown off, GDILIVES jokingly called the tower "Rizz Layer" because of one of its upgrade renders where it poses sideways.[1][2]
