“ | Automated Turret that locks onto any enemy within its field of view! Can rebuild itself once upon being destroyed. | ” | |
- Store Description |
Description[]
The Sentry is an autonomous turret that fires a mounted handgun on its base level. Like the XWM Turret, it cannot be buffed by any support towers, and it is able to rebuild itself when it is destroyed, but it can only do this once instead of three times before being completely destroyed. It is a great tower for early and mid-game due to its cheap Stealth Detection and
Ignore Bullet Resistance upgrades, but it its limited by its range due to it only being able to fire in a circular sector. It can also act as a great bait tower due it having the lowest cost of all of the towers and the ability to rebuild itself, allowing it to take another fatal shot. It takes 10 seconds for Sentry to rebuild. One small downside is the fact that it has an aim time of 0.5s. After locking onto the enemy, it will emit a small beep sound.
Upgrades[]
The Top Path for the Sentry grants it Stealth Detection and
Ignore Bullet Resistance for a relatively low cost, which is very useful for Expert Mode due to
Bullet Resistant enemies like Armored Runners and Resurrected Juggernauts that tend to be stealthed. While its upgrades are very cost efficient, players may have trouble with utilizing this path on certain maps to its fullest potential due to it still having a small percentage of its total range.
The Bottom Path for the Sentry grants it a larger range of motion, a high firerate minigun, and allows it to passively fire missiles at its targets. While it is not granted Stealth Detection on this path, it is granted
Stun Immunity and is better at dealing with crowds of enemies.

Strategies[]
- Due to its absurdly cheap placement cost (which is even cheaper than the Ranger), its decent DPS, and cheap upgrade costs, the Sentry can be a very good early game tower.
- Beware that unlike other towers, the Sentry has a limited cone of view, plus it cannot turn a full 360°. This means its range is quite limited, and proper placement is required to use it effectively, which may not always be possible on some maps.
- On maps with corners, the Bottom Path Sentries should be placed within corners, while Top Path Sentries should be placed on the outer edge of a corner.
Trivia[]
- The Sentry is the first tower to have a non-circular range.
- It is also the second tower where its rotation affects its performance, with the other being Warship.
- The update in which it released decreased the degrees turned through rotation from 90° to 45° due to having to rotate the Sentry in the necessary direction to maximize its range.
- The X-5 model heavily resembles a level 3 Sentry Gun from Team Fortress 2, as it features the game's classic tripod-mounted, dual parallel Gatling barrels and red missile salvo, as well as its detection sound.
- One of the Sentry skins, more specifically its Anime skin, is a reference to the TF2's community SFM character Mimi Sentry.
- This makes it the first skin that completely changes the overall tower, as it goes from an actual sentry model to a humanoid.
- 2 Sentries appear in the map Fortress Snowlyn, each one besides one side of the base, although they are unable to be upgraded as they are not considered yours, making it the only tower as of now to be a part of a map by default.
- Interestingly enough, they belong to "workspace", which is something even GDILIVES noticed, although it was never fixed.[1]
- On release, Sentry had the lowest placement cost of any tower. However, it lost this title to Scarecrow and later Cryo Blaster whose placement cost was reduced.
- In the 2025 Valentine's Event update, all towers had their store descriptions readded and changed. Interestingly, this is the only tower for it to have its old description.
