The Shotgunner is a cheap beginner splash tower that fires in an Arc Angle. The Arc Angle is a set angle that it fires in, and any enemies within that angle are damaged, with the max amount of enemies being 3 on its base level. It is meant for early-to-mid game, and can be a great tower for speedrunners that can utilize it properly. Despite it being a cheap beginner tower, its paths have abilities that are useful (but are not recommended for Expert Mode and Endless Mode). Depending on the path players pick, they can either heal nearby towers by 30% of their max health or unstun any nearby towers, which can be useful during a boss's Rage Mode.

The Top Path for the Shotgunner grants it Stealth Detection, a faster firerate, and the ability to heal nearby towers. It can hit up to 8 targets with an Arc Angle of 55°, and is recommended for players that want more single target DPS. Its range is smaller and it can hit less targets in total than its Bottom Path, but its pros overweigh its cons, making this a great path to purchase if players are aiming for more DPS.
The Bottom Path allows the Shotgunner to Ignore Bullet Resistance, allowing it to deal full damage to bullet resistant enemies like the ones that appear in Intermediate Mode and Expert Mode, while giving it an ability to unstun nearby towers on its max level, and having more nearly twice as much health than a max level Top Path Shotgunner. It is even able to hit more enemies than, with it being able to hit up to 11 Targets and dealing up to 200 Damage to each of them. However, it has a very small angle of 20°, barely deals more potential DPS than it's Top Path, is nearly twice as expensive, fires extremely slow, and has an extremely longer ability cooldown. Despite all of these downsides, players should opt to purchase this path as it is great late game due to its ability.
Players should place this tower near the path due to it being mainly a close range tower.
Setting the Top Path's targeting to "Last" can help with damaging multiple enemies at once, depending on where you place it on the map.
This tower is one of the best early game towers for in the game due to 0-2 being able to kill all the early game enemies in all modes except Endless Mode.
Shotgunner can be used as a support tower, either to heal or unstun towers.
While the healing can be unnecessary if anyone has Medic, the unstun feature is particularly useful since the only other ability that can unstun is the Golden Juggernaut'sReboot Systems ability, which only unstuns the tower itself.
Shotgunner can also be used to heal or unstun XWM Turret.
This tower was originally named Tactical Shotgunner, and on the Bottom Path it was originally going to be colored blue.
During its development phase, it used Ranger's upgrade icons, upgrade portraits, and had no upgrade names.[2]
5-X's Health Pack ability is one of the few ways heal towers, the others two being the Healing Field, Medic and Golden Juggernaut's Reboot System ability.
The Shotgunner is the first and currently the only tower to be completely reworked.
Shotgunner’s old 0-0 design loosely resembled the Shotgunner from Tower Defense Simulator.
