The Sniper is a long range single-target tower with a slow Reload Time that deals high damage and gains Pierce on later levels. It features very cheap Stealth Detection, being unlocked on 2-X. It is the first level-locked tower with it requiring players to be at least Rank 15 in order to purchase it. It is great for picking off enemies that make it past your main line of defense and is a great tower for beginners.
Upgrades[]
The Top Path for the Sniper grants it 2 Pierce, allowing it to hit up to 3 enemies at once. It is also granted the Ignore Bullet Resistance on 4-X, allowing it to take care of enemies with high bullet resistance such as the Revived Titan. Additionally, it also gains Stealth, allowing it to not be targeted by attacking enemies, increasing its lifespan. However, it has a significantly slower Reload Time and, lower DPS, and lower Range when compared to its Bottom Path.
The Bottom Path features much more range and DPS, but does not ignore any resistances. At level X-4, it gains an ability that unstealths any nearby enemies, similar to the Laser Gunner's Stealth Sensor. While the range covers a much larger range, it has a large windup and can only unstealth enemies for 8 seconds rather than permanently like the Laser Gunner. On Level X-5, its damage type also changes to Laser, allowing it to deal full damage to armored enemies like the Super Heavy Zombie, but less to enemies like the Revived Mutated Zombie. It is slightly more expensive to max out.
The Top Path is best used against enemies that have bullet resistance. The Top Path also has pierce, which allows it to damage multiple enemies at once. This can be useful when facing larger numbers of enemies.
While the Bottom Path may have less damage, no bullet resistance pierce and no stealth, but boasts more range, better overall single-target use, and an ability that temporarily removes the stealth property from enemies. This ability is very powerful when paired with Patrol Boat or other towers that don't detect stealth.
Snipers are cheap in the first few levels and can be used for early-game defense, but Sniper becomes more expensive in the last levels. Though it can be used as a DPS option for midgame, it is recommended to use better endgame towers if the player has them.
Snipers have a lot of range, so make sure to utilize this by placing them in spots with the best map coverage.
Players can easily solo Easy Mode solely relying on this tower, although this isn't recommended.
The Sniper has a very cheap stealth detection upgrade cost of 450 cash. Pair this with its high damage and range and it can be very effective against stealth enemies from early to late game.
Additionally, because it's not exclusive to either path, both paths receive stealth detection, making the Sniper more effective.
All of towers mentioned are also the only 10 in the game purchasable with Robux (excluding Golden Mine Layer).
The nerf Sniper received on December 25th, 2023, was most likely due to a strategy being discovered where the tower could solo the entirety of Elite Mode.
This fate was later shared by the Barracks, since it also received a large nerf.
According to John, he originally had no plans for a Sniper tower, but he changed his mind somewhere around the release of Warship and Missile Trooper’s addition to the game's demo phase.
If you use Sniper's Flare Gun ability right before you win the game, the Sniper will dance with the Flare Gun in his hand instead of his sniper rifle.
